How do you track whether AI answers name your brand each week?
This free AI answer tracker turns the weekly "did the AI answer name us?" check into a two-minute job. You run a prompt yourself, record whether your brand was named, linked, presented as an option or not mentioned, and the tool shows each prompt week by week, with gaps left as gaps, plus a CSV export. It runs in your browser, stores everything on your own device, and does not fetch answers from any AI platform.
Part 1
Record, review and keep your weekly runs
Add your prompts once, record each run after you try it, and read the weeks side by side.
Your data lives only in this browser
Everything you record is saved on this device. Clearing your browser data, using a private window or switching browser or device removes or hides it, so export a CSV or JSON backup regularly.
Warning This browser is blocking storage, so runs are kept only until you close this page. Export a backup before you leave.
1. What did the AI answer show this week?
Run the prompt yourself on the platform, then pick the one result that matches what you saw and save it.
Confirmed The tool cannot read an AI answer for you. You run the prompt and record what you saw; nothing here signs in to or scrapes an AI platform.
2. How has one prompt changed week by week?
Each row is a platform and each column is a week. A dash means you recorded no run that week; the tool never fills a gap from another week.
Directional AI answers vary from run to run, so one week is a snapshot. Look at several weeks before you decide anything.
3. How many runs showed each result?
A count of each status per prompt, with the date of the latest run. There is deliberately no combined score.
Want a dated record across platforms, with the sources behind each answer? The AI visibility audit is the full version of this check.
4. Which prompts have you not run this week?
Your active prompts with no recorded run since Monday. Tap one to start recording it.
5. Which prompts do you track?
Your prompt bank starts empty, because the prompts that matter are the ones your buyers use. Paste yours, one per line, or generate twelve in the AI visibility check and send them here.
6. How do you export, back up or move your data?
Download a CSV for a spreadsheet or a JSON backup for another browser. Your data lives only in this browser, so export regularly.
Confirmed Importing adds runs that are new and lists any that clash with runs you already have. It never overwrites anything unless you tick it.
Part 2
Run it well, then read it carefully
The tool only stores what you record, so how you run the prompt decides whether the weeks are comparable.
7. What is a good weekly routine?
Run the same prompts, in the same way, once a week, and record each result straight after you see it.
- Keep the wording identical. Copy each prompt from your bank so a changed word does not change the answer.
- Use a fresh session. A new chat or a clean browser profile, so earlier conversation does not shape the answer.
- Keep the conditions steady. Same platform, same location, same signed-in state and mode. Record them under context if they change.
- Read the whole answer and its sources. Pick the status that matches what you saw, and paste the other sources it cited.
- Record it the same day. Answers change, so the date is part of the evidence.
- Record a missed week as a gap. Enter the real date later if you catch up; never backdate.
For why one platform's answer is not a ranking and how to separate mentions from citations, see ranking, retrieval and citation. The experiment log shows dated runs from this site.
8. How should you read a timeline?
Treat a pattern across several weeks as a lead to investigate, not as proof of cause.
| Pattern you might see | What it may mean | What to check next |
|---|---|---|
| Not mentioned on every platform for weeks | The brand may not be a known answer for this question | Whether a page exists that answers it, and whether it is crawlable |
| Named only, never linked | The brand is known but the answer does not use your page as a source | Whether the passage answering the question names you and sits on a page that can be cited |
| Linked on one platform but not another | Platforms choose sources differently | Which sources the other platform cited instead, in your sources list |
| A competitor's sources appear when you are not mentioned | Other pages are being used to answer the question | What those pages offer that yours does not |
| Result flips between two weeks | Normal run-to-run variation, or a platform change | Run it again before you draw any conclusion, and note the platform date |
Hypothesis The middle column is a set of starting explanations from practice, not documented rules. No platform publishes how it picks sources.
9. Questions about tracking AI answers
Short answers on what the tool does, where the data lives and how to track AI answers honestly.
What is an AI answer tracker?
An AI answer tracker records, week after week, what AI answers say about your brand for the questions your buyers ask: whether you were named, linked, offered as an option or left out. This one stores the records in your own browser and shows them as a weekly timeline.
Does the tracker check ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google for me?
No. A browser tool cannot sign in to those platforms or read their answers. You run the prompt yourself and record what you saw, which also means every result is something you looked at.
Where is my data stored, and who can see it?
In your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded, so nobody else can see it, and clearing your browser data deletes it. Export a CSV or JSON backup to keep it safe or to move it to another browser.
Does saving a run use my free tool runs?
No. Saving, editing and exporting runs are not counted. The limit of 3 free runs applies to the other tools on this site.
Why is there no visibility score?
Named, linked and presented as an option are different outcomes with different causes, so adding them into one number hides which one changed. The tracker shows counts per status instead.
How often should I run the prompts?
Weekly is a practical rhythm, because answers vary from run to run and one run is a snapshot. Use the same prompts and conditions each time, and judge movement over several weeks.
Can I move my history to a spreadsheet?
Yes. The CSV has one row per run with the date, prompt, platform, location, signed-in state, mode, status, cited sources and note. You can also import that CSV back.
10. What can this tracker not do?
It stores and displays what you record. It does not read AI answers, compare brands or prove why a result changed.
- It cannot fetch an answer from any AI platform; you run each prompt and record the result yourself.
- It follows one brand over time. It does not compare you with competitors.
- It cannot show why a result changed: platforms update models and sources without notice.
- Data stays in one browser. There is no account and no sync across devices, so use the backup to move it.
- A handful of runs is a small sample. Treat early weeks as a baseline, not a trend.
