Did the AI answer name or link your site?

This free AI visibility check works in your browser. It turns an AI answer you paste into a dated record of whether your brand was named or linked, checks a page's HTML for the conditions an audit reads, builds twelve buyer prompts to test weekly, and drafts an llms.txt. Nothing you paste is uploaded.

Built from the checks in the worked audit of this website. Last reviewed 20 October 2026.

Part 1

Run the checks

Record what an AI answer showed, check the page, then set up a weekly routine.

1. Did the AI answer name or link your site?

Ask your buyer's question in an AI assistant, copy the answer and its sources, and paste them here. The tool records whether your name or domain appeared and which other sources were used.

2. What does your page give an AI system to work with?

Open the page you expected to be used, choose View Source, copy everything and paste it here. The tool checks the page's access signals, structure, answers and structured data once, without fetching anything.

How do I copy the page source?
  1. Open the page in Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
  2. Press Ctrl+U (Cmd+Option+U on a Mac) to open View Source.
  3. Select all, copy, and paste into the box below.

Confirmed View Source shows the HTML the server sent, which is what a crawler that does not run JavaScript receives. Inspect Element shows the page after scripts have run, so use View Source for this check.

3. Which questions should you test every week?

Twelve buyer questions built from your category and location. Run each one yourself in a fresh session, then mark whether you were mentioned, cited with a link, or presented as an option. The tool does the counting.

Mentioned
-
Cited with a link
-
Presented as an option
-

Confirmed Mentioned means your name appears in the answer. Cited means a source link points to your site. Option means the answer presents you as a choice for that need; that last mark is your own judgement. The prompts open in a new tab and nothing is sent by this page.

4. Do you want a tidy llms.txt for your site?

This builds a plain-text llms.txt: a short, markdown list of your most important pages. It is optional housekeeping, not a ranking factor and not a citation guarantee.

Your llms.txt

Confirmed Google's generative AI guidance says special AI markup, llms.txt and tiny content chunks are not needed for its AI search features. Upload the file to the root of your site (yourdomain.com/llms.txt) only if you want one.

Part 2

Understand the results

What each result means, and what to do about it.

5. How do you read the record?

The record says whether your name or domain appeared, whether your domain was linked, and how many other domains were used as sources. It separates being named from being cited.

Named and linkedYour name or domain appears and a link points to your domain
Named, not linkedThe answer mentions you, but no source link goes to your site
Linked, not namedYour page was used as a source without the answer naming you
Not named and not linkedYou appear nowhere in the text and links you pasted

Repeat the same question on different days and platforms and keep each run as its own row. The experiment log shows how a record like this is kept, and its public tracker uses the same columns.

Confirmed The record logic is deterministic text matching on what you paste; it does not call any AI platform

6. How do you read the page check?

A gap is a condition that may stop a page being read or quoted, such as a noindex tag or no text in the HTML. A note is context, not a fault. A pass means the condition was met, nothing more.

  • Access and delivery: text in the HTML, title, description, canonical and robots meta tag
  • Content and evidence: one H1, heading order, a short answer under each heading, tables and lists, image alt text and link text
  • Identity and structure: valid JSON-LD, resolved @id references, sameAs profiles and markup that matches the visible text

For what a full audit adds, read the worked example. For crawler rules, use the robots.txt checker.

7. What can this tool not show?

It cannot show why an AI platform chose a source, predict future answers or prove that a fix will change them. It reads only the text and HTML you give it, at one moment.

  • A single AI answer is one observation; answers change between runs, locations and signed-in states.
  • A passed page check means a condition was met, not that it caused any citation. Google says its AI features need no special markup.
  • It cannot see firewall or CDN rules, server logs, indexing status or real crawler visits.
  • Name matching is literal. A misspelling you did not list will not be counted.

8. What do people ask about this check?

Short answers on privacy, pasting instead of fetching, limits and what to do next. Tap a question to open the answer.

Is anything I paste uploaded?

No. Both checks run in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. The count of free runs is kept in your browser's local storage, the same as the other free tools.

Why paste the page instead of entering a URL?

Browsers do not let one website fetch another's pages, and a pasted copy is exactly what you saw. Pasting also means the tool never contacts your site.

Does it score my AI visibility?

No. It records observations and reports conditions on one page. A single score would hide the difference between being named, being linked and being recommended.

What should I do with a gap?

Check it on the live page, fix the verified issue, then repeat the check and keep both dated results. The worked audit shows how findings become actions with owners.

How often should I run the weekly prompts?

Weekly, using the same twelve prompts, in fresh sessions, at a similar time. One run is a snapshot; the trend across runs is what means something, so keep each week's log.

Does an llms.txt file help me get cited?

No guarantee exists. It is a voluntary convention, and Google says its AI features do not need it. Treat it as a tidy map of your key pages, not as a strategy.

Can you run this for my site?

Yes. An assessment covers the question set, the linked sources, your priority pages and the actions, scoped to your brand and markets. Send the website and the question your buyers ask.

Want the full record for your site?

The tool checks one answer or one page. An assessment samples the question set, compares the linked sources and turns the findings into owned actions.
